THE UPCOMING CLUB LUNCHEON EVENT

ISSUE BACKGROUNDER
What Can You Do About Climate Change?
Policy & Action Impact.
Most of us now have doubt that hurricanes have put us in grave jeopardy. They are growing stronger, intensifying faster, and causing more destruction due to a warming climate, an insidious trend for which no reversal is yet in sight.
The next hurricane of 2025 to threaten our area may still be months away, but the time to prepare and act is now. The two most recent up-close and very personal events, which developed late season in October in the western Gulf of Mexico, hit us with incredible ferocity.
Relentless man-made global warming fueled Mother Nature’s knock-out punches that should have forever erased our complacency and, hopefully, any lingering doubts some in our communities had about the causes of rising sea levels, unprecedented storm surges and extreme rainfall that are putting Florida’s families, homes, businesses and economy at risk.
Meanwhile in MAGA-land, Trump 2.0 changes to federal policy are shaping our climate future in very negative ways. He has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement, promoted fossil fuel production, and rolled back key environmental regulations, including methane emission limits and renewable energy investments.
These abrupt, contrarian and vengeful reversals put us on a dangerous trajectory, increasing emissions and weakening our ability to combat climate change
.Join us for an urgent lunch discussion on the impact of these policies and how we can fight for climate resilience at the state and local levels.
